Western Bahr El Ghazal State County Commissioners’ second forum has called for quick community development.
The forum under the theme: “Decentralization and local service delivery”, called for direct remittance of the community development grants to the County and not through the state Ministry of Finance.The forum elaborated on the achievements especially in infrastructures and it cited misallocations of budgets outside the annual plans.
AnjeloTaban Biajo, State Minister of Local Government, hailed the efforts exerted by the UN development partners, especially in training the Local Government staffs.
Elia Khamilo Dimo, Wau County Commissioner, called on development partners to continue supporting decentralization policy by building the capacity of personnel in the Counties.
He lamented that most Counties in Western Bahr El Ghazal lack manpower on the ground.
The forum blamed the state government for interfering in County Commissioners’ development projects.
The forum that concluded on Wednesday brought together Commissioners of Raja, Jur River and Wau Counties in addition to County directors, and development partners.
