HIV/AIDS prevalence over the year is alarming in Western Bahr El-Ghazal State.
State Minister of Health, Isaac Cleto Hassan announced during the World AIDS Day celebration on Saturday that the number of HIV positive people in Western Bahr El-Ghazal is quite alarming.He said out of 4662 people tested from January to October this year half were confirmed positive.
Dr. Cleto exclaimed that the AIDS prevalence is higher among women compared to men.
The minister further stated that out of 7084 pregnant women tested 88 were positive, making the number of people on Anti- retroviral drugs in the state to increase to 347 patients.
Dr. Cleto revealed that the state has six Voluntary Counseling and Testing centres, which has helped in HIVAIDS testing process
