The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) graduated 183 Arabic teachers and government employees after undergoing six months intensive English course in Juba.

NRC Intensive English Course team leader, David Lemeriga said most of the teachers who are graduating returned from Sudan without the knowledge of English language.

He said the six months training had enabled the teachers to improve tremendously.
Mr Lemeriga called on Central Equatoria State Ministry of Education to incorporate the newly trained teachers into the system.
Amos Longa Central Equatoria Director for Quality Promotion in the Ministry said it is important to train the teachers because most teachers in Juba and Terekeka Counties are of Arabic background.
He said teachers must be trained to learn English because it is the language of instruction in the new country.
Mr Longa explained that the graduates comprise 24 male and 59 female teachers, 100 are employees and the students of University of Juba College of Education all were of Arabic background.
