Street petrol sellers and second hand phone dealers in Jou Market have welcomed Wau town Mayor’s orders of relocating their current selling position to strategic location.
Wau town Mayor last week issued two orders leasing retail petrol selling and second hand phone sellers to quit their businesses along Jou Market Street and get to the new location.The Mayor cited fire risk to be the reason behind the local order on petrol.
Some retail petrol sellers expressed mixed feelings on the limitation imposed on their business saying this will turn down their daily profit and that they are not against the order.
James Deng Atem said their choice of selling petrol along the street was to make it easier for motor riders to buy since petrol stations in Wau are few.
Second hand phone dealers said they are willing to set to the new location but that it should be situated within the market square.
They are worried that if the new location is put far from the main market many customers will not know it quickly.
David Agwai Deng, mobile phone seller, said government should maintain security in the new location.
The Mayor’s order on street second hand phone dealers has reached its deadline but retail petrol sellers on streets continue their business without any move.
Related orders in Wau Market this year were issued but have never been implemented.
