Citizens in the eastern banks of Western Bahr El Ghazal State have expressed their views that there is more need for training on the national Transitional Constitution review process.
Zachariah Gai, one of the citizens said they were totally ignored in the previous constitutional review, but that time has come for them to participate in the coming review process.He demanded that copies of the constitution should be availed to all citizens.
Chief Anyar Deng Agou explained that it was after the training on the constitutional review that he understood the importance of his role in drafting the constitution.
He advocated for the removal of things like capital punishment from the constitution and replace with something that prevent child marriage and cattle raiding.
The citizens made the comments after been briefed by Justice and Peace Commission of Wau Diocese on the steps of the constitutional review and the importance of the community participation in this process.
The Justice and Peace Commission trained more than 100 people and the Commission is expected to carry out similar training in Wau and Jur River Counties.
