Ikwoto County of Eastern Equatoria state has come under threats of elephants emerging from the State Game Reserves.
State Minister of Wildlife, Environment and Tourism, George Echom has expressed fears that the movement of animals may affect farmers who are yet to harvest their cereals.He disclosed that the ministry is working to reinforce the Wildlife forces in the area to monitor and follow movement of animals.
Mr Echom added that he and Ikwoto County authorities will create awareness among the surrounding communities of Lotome, Bira and Kamulach.
He revealed a plan to build a wildlife post at Kidepo Game reserve and that the team is expected to assess a site for construction.
Mr Echom said that the National ministry of Wildlife Conservation and Tourism is expected to fund the post and is expected to select one of the competent companies for the project.
