Healthcare is deteriorating in Jonglei state between October and November due to rampant violence making the State an epicentre of violence in South Sudan.
Medicines San Frontieres (MSF) South Sudan Operation Manager, Christopher Lockyear said four of their six health centres were either looted or raided to ground when the health care is needed to treat violence victims.Mr Lockyear said people are not safe in Jonglei especially during the dry season.
He called on all actors to ensure the safety of the people in Jonglei State.
Mr Lockyear also called for security of both the patients and MSF staff to be able to provide health services in the State.
He stressed the need for development assistance in the Jonglei particularly and the country at large.
He is asking the donor community and the government of South Sudan to ensure sufficient funding and access to humanitarian aid.
Mr Lockyear was talking to the press in Juba during the launch of MSF report entitled “South Sudan’s hidden crisis”: how violence against civilians is devastating communities and preventing access to life-saving healthcare in Jonglei.
