Parishioners of St Mary’s-Yambio are organizing groups to pilgrim to Mupoi for the Centenary celebration of the faith among the Azande on foot, by bicycle or car.
Parish Priest Mark Kumbonyaki told Anisa Radio that the first group of pilgrims leaves Yambio on Sunday to do finalise the cleanup of the area allocated to the parish in Mupoi.Fr Kumbonyaki said he will celebrate a mass on Tuesday evening to ask God’s protection and blessings on those who will begin their journey on foot on Wednesday.
A group of cyclists is expected to start they journey on Thursday.
The last group, using cars or motorcycles, will depart on December 4.
Fr Kumbonyaki told all pilgrims who want to travel to Mupoi to come for a briefing and to register.
He said the movement to Mupoi is organised by groups for easy access to accommodations.
Mupoi hosts the celebration of the Centenary of Faith in Tombura-Yambio diocese on December 12.
The first Comboni Missionaries arrived in Mupoi on December 23, 1012, coming from Wau.
