Organized forces have carried out huge campaign against uninsured cars and motorcycles running in Juba.
William Madut Majok, the officer in charge of the operation, told reporters that the crackdown targeted motorcycles and cars without legal documents, Bakhita Radio reported.He explained that the operation also checked on vehicles using temporary documents and other violations of traffic laws.
Mr Madut said drivers with no license but with insurance were fined between 20 and 30 pounds.
He added that vehicles without insurance would be seized till the owners obtained the necessary documents.
Security forces, including military intelligence and national security officers, took part in the operation.
Mr Madut explained that security officers were brought in to protect the Traffic Police from harassment by soldiers and other security personnel who might not feel comfortable with the operation.
Hundreds of cars and motorcycles were seized during the operation.
