Poor communication between officials is derailing land management in Juba.
Gumbo land, left of Torit Road, was illegally demarcated by army and civilians, Bakhita Radio reported.Juba County Commissioner Stephen Wani Michael said he had no information from the Director of Rajaf Payam about illegal land activities taking place in Gumbo.
He added that he could not act because there was no official report from the Payam Director.
Mr Wani revealed that he would address the issue if he received a formal report from Rejaf Payam.
Months ago, clashes erupted in an area locally known as Kadoro after land owners intercepted illegal settlers who came to demarcate the place.
Bakhita’s reporter, who visited the area, said demarcation activities are ongoing with wide roads being opened and individuals fencing huge pieces of land.
Land grabbing has continued in Juba since 2005 due to the influx of people into the national capital and poor land policies that make the situation explosive.
