Girls’ education is Lakes State’s top priority and government and legislators are working together to make it happen.
State MP Jok Ayom Majak told Good News Radio that the House would legislate on some obstacles to girl’s education, including early marriage.Mr Jok also blamed the girls and their parents for cheating on the girls’ ages to rush marriage.
He told the girls that cows and marriage could wait until they finished their university degrees.
Mr Jok made these statements on Sunday at the graduation ceremony for ten Form Four students from Loreto Girls’ Secondary School in Rumbek.
Parents, village chiefs, government officials and religious leaders were among the graduation attendants.
