The Director for Water and Sanitation in Lakes State has called upon the community to contribution towards the maintenance of boreholes in the state.
Barnaba Makuach Magol told Good News Radio on Monday that the community has a full responsibility to contribute funds for repairing boreholes and buying spare parts. He said people in urban areas are the ones who contribute for boreholes maintenance, but those in villages expect everything coming free from the government.
Makuach lamented that some individuals in community value their cattle more than human beings and bring their cattle to drink water at the boreholes.
He warned that diseases are contracted when people share the same water facility with animals.
The Director was concerned about the hostility of the community to the Water Management Committee.
