Polio vaccinators have not reached some areas within Rumbek Central County in Lakes State on Friday because of the inter-clan’s conflict in the area.
Simone Maker Makoi, a medical officer in Rumbek told Good News Radio that Luak in Jiir Payam has been affected by inter-clan’s conflict that begun on Tuesday. He said his Ministry has withdrawn the polio vaccines that were allocated for Jiir Payam due to the fear of damage.
Makoi said the vaccination will be carried out when the area is conducive for human movement and the team would be sent to the area to do vaccination.
Makoi congratulated the entire community of Lakes State for responding positively to bring their children for easy vaccination.
He encouraged the community to take the lead in preventing polio from their children, since it is a disease that crippled and sometimes kill children.
There are possibilities of extending the polio immunization days in Lakes State due to the mobility problems.
