The UK and South Sudan have signed an agreement to strengthen education, science, technology and culture in the new country.
UK Ambassador Alastair McPhail and Undersecretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Charles Manyang D’Awol signed the memorandum of understanding on Wednesday supporting the operations of the British Council in South Sudan.Mr Manyang welcomed UK’s renewed commitment to cooperate in education, science, technology and culture, the areas where South Sudan needed support from international partners.
The British Council is responsible for the development of educational, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation with South Sudan on behalf of the Government of the United Kingdom.
The Council works with public and private organisations and NGOs to deliver English language training and develop cultural ties.
