Juba City Council made sanitation checks on the three payam of Juba, Munuki and Kator on Wednesday.
Deputy Mayor David Lokonga, who headed the inspection, told Bakhita Radio that the Council dispatched public health and administrative officials to the town to check on the dumping of the solid waste along the roads.He said those who operate hotels, restaurants and shops within residence areas are dumping their waste on the streets during night time.
Mr Lokonga warned that nobody should dump their garbage on public ways.
He said those who break City Council laws will be punished y and hotels and restaurants will have certificates withdrawn.
Mr Lokonga added that keeping the town clean was the responsibility of every citizen.
He said police will do night checks on those who are dumping rubbish on the roads.
Mr Lokonga said it is not permitted for people to cook in the streets and it is illegal to build hotel and lodges in residential areas.
