The Justice and Peace Commission in the Catholic Diocese of Wau organized a three-day training for 30 human right activists.

The participants learned what human rights were and to identify their violation in their communities.

Justice and Peace Commission Program Officer, Stephen Robo, told Voice of Hope that the training targeted 60 people from the five parishes where Justice and Peace committees have been established in two workshops.

He said the trainees will act as human rights watchdogs and address issues related to rights violations.

The workshop was part of a two-year training program.

Mr. Robo explained that the training was also opened to non-Christians.

Irish Catholic charity TROCAIRE supported the workshop.
