A member of the National Legislative Assembly criticized the “extreme very poor quality” of state media programmes.

Alieu Ayuen Alieu, who chairs the Committee of Security in the Assembly, had harsh words for the SSTV programmes.

He said the Government cannot criticize the private media when the minister of information cannot provide a role model of quality through the state run media.

The MP said SS Radio staff hurry up their guests without allowing them to complete their words while the station if full of music and religion.

Mr Alieu said the Minister for Information appeared too often in the screens of SSTV even when he had nothing to say.

He accused the TV staff of brushing aside important news to promote top people at the Ministry of Information.

The MP said it could be understood as self promotion.

Mr Alieu was speaking during the second day of the media bills public hearing after he opened the occasion as guest of honour.
