Young girls battling for the annual Miss Malaika South Sudan crown said if they won they were ready to take the cause of disadvantaged people and encourage girls to get education and be independent.
Becky Awell, a 24-year old from Lakes State, was confident that she had what it took to be Miss Malaika.She said the pageantry represented the opportunity she dreamed to help her people if she won the crown.
Ms Awell added that if she won she would help persons with disabilities, encourage girls to go to school and young people to engage in activities other than politics.
Arual Longar, a 20-year old from Warrap State, said if she won the Miss Malaika crown she would help streets children, people with physical disabilities, elderly, orphans and widows.
She added she would push parents to encourage girls to go to school instead of forcing them into early marriages.
Twenty young ladies from all over South Sudan will be battling next Saturday for 12 places in the final of Miss Malaika South Sudan.
