A firm contracted by the national transport ministry to build the car park for the new terminal at Juba International Airport is charging five pounds for every civilian car entering the area.
Prime Consultant Company Limited General Manager, Mehari Alemayehu, told CRN on Tuesday that the Ethiopian company has been awarded a contract to build and operate the parking facility at Juba International Airport. He said his company is going to invest ten million US dollars in the project to build and operate the car park for over ten years and then transfer the facility to the government.
Eng. AlemAyehu explained that the company introduced on Monday the five-pound fee to create public awareness.
He added that in January when both the international terminal and the car park are operational drivers will pay per stay at electronic machines.
The Government had previously announced that China had given a loan for a Chinese company to conclude the International Terminal, the car park and make the airport operational 24 hours per day.
