The Catholic Archbishop of Juba has invited couples to marry in church in order to counter problems caused by polygamy.
Archbishop Lukudu said many families are breaking up due to polygamy related issues, Bakhita Radio reported.He called on couples to renew their matrimony and share their problems with priests in order to solve them instead of using polygamy as a solution.
Archbishop Lukudu said polygamy was prevalent among young boys of 15 to 20 years.
He said young men with many wives were unable to feed their children properly.
The metropolitan archbishop of South Sudan asked men to marry only one wife in order to have healthy children and be able to educate them well.
Archbishop Lukudu singled out polygamy as the main reason for the rampant rate of divorce in South Sudan.
He made these statements at Holy Rosary Chapel on Sunday during the blessing of the temple and the ordination of three deacons.
