Police has launched a crackdown on illegal motorcycles operating in Gumbo area, outside Juba.
A police officer who refused to reveal his name told Bakhita Radio that the order to seize motorbikes without licenses and number plates came from the police authorities.He said Wednesday’s exercise aimed to reduce the rate of accidents in the area.
Accidents involving cars and motorbikes are common on the tarmac road that passes through Gumbo to connect Juba Bridge with Bor and Nimule roads.
In August, at least four people died in separate road accidents.
