A fight between a refugee and a member of the host community at Gendrassa Camp in Maban County of Upper Nile last week developed into a big confrontation leaving at least one person dead.
Gendrassa Camp received over 12,000 Sudanese refugees who have fled fighting in Blue Nile State.UN OCHA weekly news bulletin said humanitarian organizations and local authorities mobilized to diffuse the tension and reconcile the two communities.
The incident reflects increasing tensions among local residents over the ever growing refugee population straining local resources.
Dialogue with local communities is being intensified to share information on projects designed for host communities, and plans to set up new sites outside Maban County for future refugee arrivals.
