Patients should hurry up and seek treatment instead of delaying and making recovery very difficult.

The plea comes from a medical doctor at St Bakhita Health Centre in Yei.

Veronka Rackovia told Radio Easter that many people know about leprosy but delay the treatment and then get complications from the disease.

Sr Rackovia called on people affected by leprosy to come as soon as they become aware of the illness to avoid disabilities and segregation.

The medical doctor from the Missionary Sisters Servants of the Holy Spirit said leprosy is still affecting people in Morobo, Lainya and Yei counties.
