Political parties in Western Bahr El-Ghazal were briefed about legal requirements to register.
International Republican Institute facilitator Allis Michael Taban said the three-day workshop for parties tackled areas like the Political Parties’ Council, the registration process, and parties’ rights and responsibilities, Voice of Hope reported.She added that political parties seeking registration in South Sudan must at least have a membership of 4,000 in eight of the ten states in South Sudan.
Ms Allis said all old and new political parties must register and comply with the Political Parties Law in order to operate legally.
The IRI is an independent institution which helps to enlighten all upcoming and existing parties in the country on the Political Parties Act.
