The Government said talks between the Presidents of South Sudan and Sudan are making progress and closer to a final agreement.

Government spokesperson Barnaba Marial Benjamin told the press in Juba Tuesday morning that the ongoing talks between Salva Kiir Mayardit and Omar Hassan Al Bashir were advancing and an agreement was eminent.

Dr Marial said there were progresses on border security, oil production, Abyei, debts and four freedoms negotiations.

He said his Government was surprised by the airdrop of weapons to Jonglei rebels by an aircraft believed to come from Khartoum just before the two presidents met in Addis Ababa.

Dr Marial charged some hawks within the National Congress Party of trying to torpedo a final agreement between South Sudan and Sudan being ironed out by the two presidents in the Ethiopian capital.
