The Council of Ministers on Friday endorsed the Agriculture and Forestry and Animal Resources and Fisheries policy frameworks.
Government spokesperson Barnaba Marial Benjamin told the press that the policy frameworks will form the basis for any strategic plan at the Ministries.He said Minister Betty Achan Ogwaro also presented a proposal to change of the name of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry into the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Cooperatives and Rural Development.
Dr Marial said the proposal was referred to the Council Economic Cluster for further discussion.
The cluster will write recommendations to the Council of Ministers on the name’s change.
Dr Marial said the Cabinet also passed the policy framework of the ministry of Animal Resources and Fisheries by the Minister Martin Elia Lomuro.
He said the five-year strategic plan will work out the use of animal and fish enormous resources for the benefit of all the people of South Sudan.
President Salva Kiir Mayardit chaired the Council of Ministers assisted by Vice President Riek Machar Teny.
