The Vice President will host the high profile “We Want Peace” Business Gala dinner on Thursday at Juba’s Independence Hall.

The dinner supports child soldier turned singer Emmanuel Jal’s Peace initiative in South Sudan.

Riek Machar Teny said the gala will act as an ideal platform to connect the national government, the private sector, UN agencies, NGOs and the diplomatic corps, with a focus on South Sudan’s responsible investment for long-term development.

Emmanuel Jal promised to move forward with his initiative “We want peace” and make concerts across the country.

On Friday, Jal will headline a celebratory concert alongside friend and very special guest Darryl McDaniel of the legendary hip hop trio Run DMC.

This will be the first time that African American artist McDaniel visits and performs in Africa.
