The Civil Society Taskforce in South Sudan was invited to a three-day regional meeting to hunt Kony and his group held at the beginning of the month in Bangui, capital of Central African Republic.
Marko Kumbonyaki from the taskforce told Anisa Radio that both church and traditional leaders attended the meeting.Fr Kumbonyaki explained that the participants agreed that the collective hunt for Joseph Kony and his followers should continue.
Policymakers from the countries affected by the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) atrocities should also be involved to advocate for peace and resolve the conflict.
The Civil Society Taskforce was formed in the affected areas in Uganda, South Sudan, DR Congo and Central African Republic to give current and right information to the governments about the LRA’s movements.
Fr Kumbonyaki thanked the government of Western Equatoria for taking positive measures against the LRA and bringing peace into the state.
He urged all citizens, Churches and the government to unite to maintain peace in the affected areas.
The delegation from South Sudan comprised of officials from the national government, three Evangelical Bishops plus two local chiefs from Western Equatoria.
The next meeting will be in Kinshasa, the capital of DR Congo. No date was set.
