Norwegian Peoples Aid (NPA) handed over to the Eastern Equatoria Government a basic health service delivery project that cost 4.5 million US Dollars.

The project included the building of medical stores, health resource centre and office block at the state ministry of health in Torit and a three-month stock of essential drugs, Radio Emmanuel reported.

The project is equipped with solar panels, V-sat system, incinerators, pit latrines, vehicles and radios to communicate with county health centres.

Eastern Equatoria Deputy Governor, Jerome Surur Gama, said the inauguration served to cement the relationship between the state government and development partners.

The Deputy Governor praised NPA for its support to the people of South Sudan in critical moments and its commitment to health through the hospitals of Chukudum, Nimule, Lobone and Yei.

Mr Surur appealed to partners to support the Government to combat illness, poverty and hunger, for people to taste the dividends of peace.

State minister for Health, Margaret Itto, said NPA’s performance was outstanding, transparent, committed and close to the people.

NPA Country Director for South Sudan, Kari Egge, said the NGO secured one million Dollars to support its projects until the end of the year.
