The President of the Republic has warned traders to stop messing up with goods in order to increase gains or else face penalties.

Salva Kiir Mayardit made the warning Wednesday during the handover of the Juba-Nimule Road by USAID to the Government after the highway was upgraded and asphalted, Bakhita Radio reported.

The President said some traders hide their goods at the border before Nimule in order to disturb the market, raise prices and make bigger returns.

He said anyone caught in the practice of speculation will face the law or else will have to consume his own goods.

President Kiir added that Vice President Riek Machar told him when he returned to Juba from the Great Lake Summit that the Khartoum Government reopened the borders with South Sudan and 700 fully loaded trucks arrived in Renk in one day.

He underlined that if all roads are open, the markets will be supplied and traders will make their money.

Mr Kiir said traders who intent to invest in South Sudan should not plan to exploit consumers.
