Lainya County of Central Equatoria State celebrated Girl Child Education Day on Wednesday in Kenyi payam.
Lainya County press secretary Lugalla Bullen told Radio Easter over the phone that the guest of honour, MP Rebbeca Acuwi, appreciated the crowd that gathered to commemorate the event to promote girl child education.He said Ms Acuwi urged parents to educate or train children equally because most parents tend to educate boys only.
Mr Lugalla said Ms Acuwi condemned teachers who have sex with school girls.
The MP added that any one accused of sexual abuse should be arrested and banned from teaching.
Mr Lugalla said Paramount Chief David Sambala called upon the Government to construct at least one school for girls in the county to avoid taking them to neighbouring countries where they face many challenges.
The Girl Child Education Day celebration in Lainya was attended by dignitaries from both national and state levels and a large crowd of locals.
