NPA, the Norwegian Peoples’ Aid, is training local journalists on computer literacy in Yei River County of Central Equatoria State.

Macuei Peter is one of the participants. He worked with Rumbek FM in Lakes State for the last three years. As a secondary school dropout, Macuei was not able to use the computer efficiently.

He told CRN that the training will enable him to broadcast his country to the world.

Joel Alara has been training the 19 participants for the last three weeks.

He said he hoped the participants would be able to improve their journalistic skills especially through the use of the internet and computers.

Vicky Daniel Kisra has worked with Yambio FM in Western Equatoria.

She said this was the first opportunity in her five-year carrier to learn how to use computer programmes to write her pieces.

This is one of the trainings conducted by NPA and some other agencies for local journalists in the country.

With the media bills now in the National Assembly, NPA believes that trained journalists will hold back ethical errors.
