The Chairperson of the National Constitutional Review Commission said today in Juba that the body did not get any money since it was formed seven months ago.
Akolda Man Tier said the commission has submitted a budget in January but up to now they haven’t received a single Pound from the Ministry of Finance. He said the lack of money has delayed the Constitution review work for seven months and crippled the commission.
Professor Man added that the Transitional Constitution 2011 states clearly that within the six months of coming to force the President should form the National Constitutional Review Commission.
He said the Commission has no offices, computers or money to maintain the building given them by the Judiciary to use.
Prof. Man said the commission did not meet until today because it does not have money.
Today’s first meeting of the National Constitutional Review was funded by the International Development Law Organization.
