More than 170 people engaged in witchcraft surrendered their tools to the church in Ezo Catholic Parish on Sunday.
The public act took place during the visit of the Centenary Cross to the parish of Ezo, in Tombura-Yambio Catholic diocese, Anisa FM reported.
Many people were healed and many who surrendered their witchcraft tools dedicated their lives to God and while others joined the prayer groups.
Bishop Eduardo Hiiboro of Tombura-Yambio told those who still fear to bring their witchcraft implements that they should bring it without fear to receive blessings from the Lord.
He said there is no witchcraft that will keep anyone in authority.
Ezo Parish Priest Jacinto Nangi said the Centenary Cross has done a lot of good among the Christians of his parish.
He thanked the diocesan authorities that chose the Cross to move from one parish to the other.
Western Equatoria Governor Joseph Bangasi Bakosoro thanked those who surrendered their witchcraft tools.
He gave them the task to go and tell those who have been practicing witchcraft to bring their implements to the Church.
Mr Bakosoro encouraged the youths to plant potatoes since there is plenty of groundnuts this season.
The mass was attended by governor, ministers, commissioners of Ezo and Tombura, members of the State Legislative Assembly, more than a dozen of priests and a multitude of faithful.
The Centenary Cross is visiting every parish in Tombura-Yambio diocese to prepare the communities to celebrate their Centenary of Faith on December 12, 1012 in Mupoi Ð the first parish the Comboni Missionaries opened among the Zande people almost 100 years ago.
