South Sudan’s ruling party has started a grassroots process of gathering views to polish its main documents, namely the Constitution, the Manifesto and the Regulations.

SPLM Information Secretary Bol Makweing told CRN news that Chairman Salva Kiir Mayradit formed a number of committees to review the party’s key documents.

He said the party is rewriting its constitution to address the new reality of South Sudan.

Mr Makweing added that three documents – Constitution, Manifesto and Rules and Regulations – are crucial for political party registration and for a better performance.

Mr Makweing pointed out that the standing committee working on the SPLM Extraordinary Convention has already finished all financial and logistical works.

He said now Chairman Kiir has to call the extraordinary convention to pass the three key documents.
