UNIDO COMPLETES TRAINING 600 YOUTH IN WAU

United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in collaboration with the national Ministry of Youth, Culture and Sports have completed the training of more than 600 youth in different fields of technical work in Don Bosco Vocational Training Centre in Wau.

UNIDO technical Advisor, Leosa Nanette, said that the project was to train youth and create job opportunities.

She said they achieved success in the training they carried out in Wau and Kuajok.

Don Bosco Vocational Training Centre Principal in Wau Fr. Sunil Oratel, said that the graduates have been trained in different fields for a period of 45 days.

He added that ladies who were trained particularly in blacksmith are among the 450 youth who underwent the training.

Fr. Sunil added that they are only providing training while the other partners will follow up the trainees.

UNIDO will provide masonry, painting and carpentry tools for the trainees to work in the coming period.

State Minister for Youth and Sport Arkangelo Anyar Anyar, disclosed his ministry plan to reduce unemployment among the youth.

Mr. Anyar promised to work for youth employment after knowing that they benefited from the training.

424 youth from Wau and 160 from Warrap state benefited from the program that was funded by Spain Millennium Association through UNIDO from April to May.
