Yei River County Health official has said that tuberculosis (TB) infection is increasing in the County.
TB supervisor and Nurse, Tongun Felix said that the rate of TB is on increase because of lack of follow up from the patients, Radio Easter reported.He said they have many new cases and six retreatment cases.
Mr Felix added retreatment for tuberculosis cases mean the infection rate is high in the communities where the patients come from.
Clinical officer Agnes Nyoka said that TB awareness program is not done properly by the peer educators because of lack of motivation.
She said lack of transport has hindered health workers to reach the communities with health resources like posters, booklets for educating people how to help TB patients.
Ms Agnes urged community members to support TB patients by taking them to health centres for free treatment.
