KIIR SAYS SOUTH SUDAN INDEPENDENCE INCOMPLETE WITHOUT ECONOMIC LIBERTY

The President of the Republic has said that South Sudan Independence is not complete without economic freedom.

Addressing the crowd on first anniversary of South Sudan’s Independence, Salva Kiir Mayardit said the country is politically Independent but not economically.

He revealed that South Sudan needs to grow its own food in order to realize total independence of its people.

Mr Kiir said South Sudan can grow its own food because it has abundant of fertile land and meaningful heads of livestock to provide other services.

He said the national minister of Agriculture is sending seeds and fertilizers across the country in order to boost agricultural productivity.

President Kiir said South Sudan will achieve total food security by 2015 because the Government is embarking on issues of food production in all the states of South Sudan.

South Sudan depends heavily on foods imported from neighbouring countries since 2005 and the situation has been aggravated by the shutdown of oil and closure of borders between Sudan and South Sudan.
