Residents of Juba are welcoming the President’s decision to recover stolen money by former and current Government officials.
Last month, President Salva Kiir sent dozens of letters asking former and current Government officials to return four billion US Dollars they stole from public coffers.Bakhita Radio recorded the views of some citizens. Deng Nhial Chok said he was happy with the President’s decision to order the stolen money back.
He said the stolen money must be brought back in order to finance development in the new nation, including health and education.
Mr Nhial called on the Government of South Sudan to fight corruption within NGOs and other non governmental institutions.
Laila John also supports the President orders.
She said corrupt officials should return the stolen money if they want South Sudan to grow.
Juda Osuru said the money belongs to the public and must be returned.
He urged the President to be serious and take to book corrupt officials in order to stop repeated acts of fraud.
South Sudan Anti-corruption Commission recently announced it recovered about 60 million dollars of funds allegedly misappropriated by several unidentified officials and organisms.
