The Congolese refugees staying in Lasu payam of Yei River County are in urgent need of some tools for cultivation.
The area coordinator, who preferred not to be named, told Radio Easter that the refugees need hoes, pangas, fork hoes and rakes for cultivating their fields. He said some NGOs are distributing seeds too late and the refugees are not able to plant in the right season.
Yei River County Commissioner David Juma Augustine said he will request FAO and other agricultural organizations to supply refugees with some tools in order for them to cultivate crops to feed themselves.
The commissioner thanked the entire community of the refugees for their tireless effort for planting maize in the area instead of waiting for food to be brought by UN agencies.
Mr Juma made these statements during his visit to Lasu Refugee Camp Monday evening.
