The deputy chairperson Anti-Corruption Commission said on Friday that graft is rampant in South Sudan due to loopholes in the government system.

Johnny Saverio Ayik said huge problems in finance and administrative management systems favour great corruption due to lack of laws and regulations that should run government institutions.

Dr Saverio added that if anti-graft laws are not put in place and the system is run by incompetent people it will take generations to get rid of corruption in the country.

Dr Saverio said some professions including the Judiciary have been infiltrated by people who are not qualified to practice law or offer legal counselling.

The deputy chairperson of South Sudan Anti-Corruption Commission made these statements on Bakhita’s Liberation Square roundtable on Friday evening.
