Authorities in Heiban County of Nuba Mountains met local leaders and traders in a bid to reduce goods’ high prices.
Heiban County Commissioner Kamal Anur led the meeting. He said the authorities met two weeks ago with local traders and importers to see how to reduce high prices across the region.
Mr Anur said traiders agreed that the prices of goods should be reduced.
He explained that traders should not be what he called “greedy.”
The commissioner condemned those who put high prices in their goods to get richer.
He called on traders to fear God and reduce prices so that everyone can buy what she or he needs.
Prices skyrocketed in Nuba Mountains since the beginning of the war in South Kordofan last June.
Right now thousands are starving due to high prices and lack of sorghum in the markets.
