Members of the Rainbow community of Nzara, Western Equatoria, received 40 goats thanks to CAFOD, the English Catholic charity.

The distribution took place on Wednesday under the program of sustainable livelihood run the Catholic diocese of Tombura-Yambio, Anisa FM reported.

Samuel Simon Zigizo, who coordinates the programme, said the Rainbow community is divided in five groups of 40 members each and 20 of them were selected to receive the goats.

Each person received a pair of goats, one male and one female.

Those who did not receive the goats will get hens in the next round.

Mr Simon explained that the distribution was prepared with a one-day workshop on Tuesday to teach people how to look after the goats and learn how to benefit from them.

John Baptist, who chairs Nzara’s Rainbow group, thanked CAFOD because with the goats will better their lives and they will be able to earn some money to send the children to school.

The Rainbow Community is made up of children, women and men who are HIV positive.

It was started and it is run by the Comboni Sisters.
