Residents of Wau gathered together to celebrate SPLA Day and recall the struggle for freedom that lasted almost a quarter of a century.

Major Mangong Anigok, Division 5 information officer, told the crowds that South Sudan’s revolution struggle had historical roots: the settling of Arab nomads who dismantled local kingdoms and cultures and enforced Arab rule and Islam.

Western Bahr El Ghazal Governor Rizik Zakaria Hassan congratulated the SPLA and all the South Sudanese people for the perseverance to make South Sudan an independent republic.

He urged the citizens to continue sustaining the army both with material goods and moral support as they defend the security and integrity of South Sudan.
