550 refugees from Sudan enter every day into Unity State since the beginning of May, six times more than in March.
South Sudan UN Humanitarian Coordinator Lise Grande told the press that there are over 100,000 Sudanese refugees in South Sudan.She disclosed that about 8,000 refugees from Blue Nile State are crossing to Maban County, in Upper Nile State, looking for food.
Ms Grande said the refugees arrive very exhausted, traumatized and hungry after many days of walking.
She added that they come to South Sudan looking for food.
Ms Grande noted that UNHCR, the UN agency for Refugees, has been able to scale up operations to welcome the ever growing number of refugees in South Sudan.
UNHCR and partners are looking after over 100,000 refugees in Unity and Upper Nile States with food and non food items.
