The Emergency Response Programme of the Catholic Diocese of Tambura-Yambio is conducting a survey to identify vulnerable women among IDPs, Internally Displaced Persons, within the area in order to support them with micro-credit.
Program manager Peter Saru Paul told Anisa Radio that the distribution of loans targets IDP vulnerable women to provide them with some capital to establish small businesses to carter for themselves and their families. The beneficiaries have to start paying back their loans one month after with a small interest.
Mr Saru said the programme developed questionnaires for the survey to analyze the answers and conduct pilot studies.
The pilot studies will tell what typical group of the women can receive the first loans probably from the mid of June this year.
Mr Saru added that they are targeting single mothers, divorced women and mothers with a big number of children among the IDPs.
The survey was conducted in Maridi, Ibba, and Yambio and now moves to Nzara, Tambura and Nagero counties.
