The UN Human Rights High Commissioner Friday said she was outraged with Sudan’s indiscriminate aerial bombardments of South Sudanese territories adding that it could amount to international crimes.

Navi Pillay told journalists in Juba that in the past six months she condemned the indiscriminate use of aerial bombardments by Sudan Armed Forces in the border areas.

She said she was saddened and outraged that such attacks have killed and injured civilians and continue to happen putting many civilians at risk.

Ms Pillay added that the attacks have caused many thousands to flee from the border areas.

She said deliberate or reckless attacks on civilians can amount to international crimes depending on the circumstances.

Ms Pillay underlined that the only possible solution to sort out territory claims, including Abyei, is through talks.
