South Sudan can resume oil production and export it through Sudan’s territory if there is a deal between the two Governments.

National Cabinet Affairs minister Deng Alor Kuol told journalists in Juba Thursday that the Government is committed to the UN Security Council Resolution that called for the resumption of negotiations between South Sudan and Sudan.

He said the oil issue is on top of the agenda of negotiations and South Sudan will resume oil production and export it through Sudan’s infrastructure if Khartoum is more flexible.

Mr Alor added that oil is a priority to both governments, to investors and the African Union as well.

He said oil is on top of AU’s roadmap which was presented to the UN Security Council and served as the backbone to the Resolution on South Sudan and Sudan.

President Omar Al Bashir said this week that security is the top issue to be negotiated.

He added he will not discuss oil issues before security is settled.
