SOUTH SUDAN BRIEFS GENEVA’S HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION ON SOUTH SUDAN SITUATION

The South Sudan Human Rights Commission briefed the Geneva High Commissioner for Human Rights, Navi Pillay, on the state of human rights in the country.

South Sudan Human Rights Commission Deputy Chairperson Biel Jock Thich told reporters this morning in Juba that his commission presented to the Geneva Human Rights High Commissioner the national agenda for Human Rights, Bakhita Radio reported.

He said the agenda includes awareness creation, rights commission branches in the ten states and funding.

Mr Jock said the meeting,with the top leadership of the Human Rights Commission in Geneva was informative.

He added that he promised to work closely with the High Commission in Geneva by reporting human rights cases in South Sudan.

Mr Jock said High Human Rights Commission will continue to support the activities of its South Sudanese counterpart through UN agencies.
