Caritas office at the Catholic Diocese of Torit started Monday a second workshop to develop its capacity.

Martin Vuni, programs Manager for the Catholic Diocese of Torit, explained to Radio Emmanuel that the two-day ongoing workshop it is the second of three formation events.

Participants are drawn from the deaneries, Norwegian Church Aid (NCA) and Caritas Swiss, diocesan coordinators of development programs and parish field officers.

Fr Vuni described Caritas as √É’an act of love.’

The Catholic charity starts from the parishes to the diocese to reach national, regional and international levels.

Fr Vuni said each diocese in South Sudan is expected to form a diocesan Caritas while the national body is being set up in Juba.

Catholic Relief Service, Caritas Luxemburg and Caritas France are international Catholic organizations operating in Torit diocese.

Fr Vuni explained as soon as the Caritas Torit is established, every parish should start its own small Caritas office to respond to its humanitarian needs.

The ongoing workshop in Torit focuses on the strength, weaknesses, opportunity and threats of Caritas Torit.
